The Chargers Haven't Won the AFC West since 2009. Is it Time for Change?

The last time the Los Angeles Chargers won the AFC West division was way back in 2009, when they were still in San Diego.

Since then, they've finished second-best nine times, third-best three times and last place four times.

Even with elite seasons from quarterback Justin Herbert and defensive players like five-time All-Pro safety Derwin James, they've yet to be able to break through and become a serious threat for division supremacy.

With the Kansas City Chiefs seemingly en route to regress in 2026, now could be the time for the Chargers to make a legitimate push for the top spot. Then again, their division mates in the Denver Broncos might have something to say about that.
