Is Jahiem White a perfect late-round prospect for the Chargers?

North Texas running back Jahiem White is dominating the American Conference and establishing himself as an explosive mid-round option in the 2027 NFL Draft. His otherworldly elusiveness, burst, and vision separate him from other prospects. He’s an intriguing fit for the Los Angeles Chargers, especially with their subpar rushing attack.

White, the five-foot-seven, 190-pound redshirt junior, spent three years at West Virginia before transferring to North Texas. He was productive in Morgantown, tallying 1,818 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2025. After this, he needed a change of scenery and moved to Denton, TX.

Thus far, it’s been a fantastic decision. He’s already run for 1,047 yards and 13 touchdowns through eight games. He’s also added 275 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

White’s A-list trait is his elusiveness. He’s slippery in space and frequently makes multiple defenders miss. He has a full arsenal of evasive maneuvers, including jukes and spins. Despite his small frame, he has spectacular contact balance and pinballs off defenders.

White is an outstanding athlete. He accelerates quickly and has formidable deep speed. He can stop on a dime, making it nearly impossible for defenders to stick with him.

Additionally, White’s vision further separates him from other running backs. He’s patient in the backfield and expertly finds open lanes. He consistently finds cutback lanes and can turn a broken play into a game-changing moment.

White’s biggest issue is his durability and play strength. He isn’t a workhorse back and is susceptible to big hits. Beyond this, he isn’t a major threat between the tackles, barring a cutback, as he struggles to break arm tackles. Regardless, he’s still an intriguing prospect for Los Angeles.

The Chargers’ season has been disastrous so far, especially offensively. Their run game, previously seen as a strength, has been completely ineffective. 2025 first-round pick Omarion Hampton has disappointed. Additionally, backups Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal have been uninspiring. Because of this, they must address the unit in April.

They aren’t going to use an early on a running back. They just spent a first-round pick on Hamton and have other pressing needs. As a result, they must find a bargain option, which White fits perfectly.

It’s still early, but Jahiem White is an attractive target for the Chargers. Don’t be surprised to hear his name floating around Los Angeles as a dream mid-to-late-round target.
