Los Angeles Chargers 2025 fifth-round pick Oronde Gadsden II turned out to be a home run selection after his breakout rookie season, and with reports that the Bolts have scheduled a Top-30 visit with Georgia TE Oscar Delp, pairing the two could create an intriguing duo for new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
Joshua L. Jones - USA TODAY NETWORKThe 22-year-old Cumming, GA native spent all four seasons of his college career with the Bulldogs, winning a national championship in 2022. This past season, Delp hauled in 20 receptions on 28 targets for 261 yards and a touchdown, while his 7.8 yards after the catch ranked 18th among tight ends with at least 25 targets, according to Pro Football Focus.
A former four-star recruit, Delp stands at 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, with 31 5/8-inch arms and 9 1/2-inch hands, and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash with a 38.5-inch vertical at Georgia’s Pro Day. He’s one of the most athletic tight ends in the upcoming draft class and catches with soft hands, totaling 854 receiving yards and nine touchdowns during his time with the Bulldogs.
Delp played the entire 2025 season with an undetected hairline fracture in his foot that was discovered during a routine physical at the NFL Scouting Combine, though he described the season as "pain-free." The injury did not require surgery, and after consulting with a specialist, it was confirmed to be healing.
Adding Delp would give the Chargers another versatile piece at the position and further solidify the group moving forward. His ability to stretch the field vertically and willingness to throw his body on the line as a blocker fit well into a role that doesn’t require him to be the focal point of the offense right away, but instead allows him to maximize his strengths and continue to develop as he acclimates to the speed of the NFL. That kind of flexibility is valuable in a system like McDaniel’s.
Pairing Delp with Gadsden would give Los Angeles two young players who can complement each other while also pushing one another to improve. It would also provide another potential long-term option at the position. Even if Delp would likely begin in a rotational role if selected by the Chargers, his presence would add competition and depth, which is valuable heading into training camp.
For a team looking to continue building around its young core, taking a chance on a player with Delp’s traits and upside could make a lot of sense.
