It appears that NFL insiders are getting the sense that the Los Angeles Chargers will not tear down the roster ahead of the trade deadline.

The Los Angeles Chargers are by no means where they hoped to be when they started the 2026 season, as the Chargers now sit at 0-7 following another loss as they fell to the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday in the battle of LA 24-9.

As a result of the Chargers being 0-7, there has been a lot of speculation that they could end up making some trades to put themselves in a better position moving forward, but based on the latest report, it appears that is not the case.

Recently, senior NFL national reporters Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano put out a piece on NFL Week 9 latest intel, buzz, questions, fantasy tips, and trade deadline news, and in that article, the takeaway was that the Chargers are not expected to make moves at this point.

Graziano specifically mentioned that he asked teams around the league about where the Chargers are in terms of moving players, and he mentioned the overall sense was that Los Angeles is not open to trading players, which is quite surprising when considering where LA is record-wise at 0-7.

For the Chargers not to be open to trading players is a very interesting development because, obviously, they were hoping to have a couple of wins at this point and be in the playoff race, but they are now far from that, which is less than ideal for them. As a result, they should be making moves and accept that they are sellers ahead of the trade deadline.

When it comes to being sellers, the Chargers don't have to trade all of their young talent and sacrifice the future, but instead they should consider trading some of the veterans like Khalil Mack or a player who has not necessarily worked out like Quentin Johnston to acquire draft capital and builds the team for the future.

Despite the fact the Chargers could be able to make moves like that and get draft compensation, it appears that are just fine sticking with what they have which does not seem like a good strategy if they want to compete in the AFC as every year teams get better and to do so they make major moves rather than staying put.

That said, it is possible for the Chargers to change their mind about not trading players ahead of the trade deadline, as they have a little less than a week until the deadline, but it does take time to work out trades, so they have to make that decision sooner rather than later.

So, as the Chargers approach the trade deadline, it will be worth monitoring whether they change their mind and make some trades, or if they really do stay put and decide to keep what they have in hopes that the 2027 season is better. Regardless of what the Chargers decide, this has been a year to forget in LA, as they have fallen way short of expectations.
