Should the Chargesr select Kenyon Sadiq in the NFL Draft?

NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his second mock draft of the season on Tuesday morning. One of the most interesting selections was Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq to the Los Angeles Chargers. Although tight end isn’t the team's biggest need, Sadiq would give Justin Herbert another explosive weapon. This is clearly needed and was evident in the Chargers post-season loss.

An important note is that the Chargers hired Mike McDaniel to be their offensive coordinator this offseason. Jeremiah notes how his scheme would be an ideal fit for Sadiq and would create a dynamic offense for 2026.

“Sadiq is the perfect weapon for a creative offensive mind like Mike McDaniel,” Jeremiah wrote. “With the tight end joining Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris and Oronde Gadsden II, the OC would have a lot to work with in his first year with the Chargers.”

Herbert wouldn’t lack weapons with the selection of Sadiq. He would form a dynamic tandem with Oronde Gadsden, who had an impressive rookie campaign with 49 receptions for 664 yards and three touchdowns. His rookie breakout is a reason why the Charges aren’t frequently mocked Sadiq, but it’s still an intriguing option to explore.

The former Oregon Duck had 51 receptions for 560 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025. He was their second leading receiver and was a primary weapon for Dante Moore. He was efficient in contested catch situations, going 7/12 on the year. He did have six drops on the season, which isn’t ideal, but it isn’t a deal-breaker.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound tight end is a potential three-down NFL player who will provide impact as a pass catcher and run blocker. First off, he’s an impressive route runner with an extensive route tree. He is impressive in and out of breaks, hardly losing any speed. Sadiq uses tempo in routes well and helps create instant separation.

As a blocker, he’s equally as impressive. Sadiq isn’t the biggest player, but he makes up for it with his strength and physicality. He has a high IQ and understands leverage, which helps him take blockers out of the play. He holds his own against defensive ends and consistently dominates linebackers and defensive backs.

Overall, Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq isn’t the most prototypical selection for the Chargers, but is one they should consider at pick 22. He would give Mike McDaniel and Justin Herbert another weapon and could potentially help them win a playoff game.
