Taking a look at when the Los Angeles Chargers could secure their first victory of the 2026 NFL season.

The Los Angeles Chargers are in a very precarious position as they now sit at 0-6 following the 22-6 loss in Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs, and heading into the bye week, it appears there are more questions than answers for the Chargers.

With that said, there is one key question that Los Angeles must answer sooner rather than later. When will the Chargers secure their first victory of the 2026 NFL season?

Starting off, this is a less-than-ideal spot for the Chargers to be in, as they have played six games and have yet to pick up a win, while before the season started, this team was thought to be a playoff team and potentially even make a run at an AFC West title. Sitting at 0-6, it appears that a playoff appearance and an AFC West title could be out of reach, with this team sitting near the bottom of the NFL.

Now, looking at the next five matchups for the Chargers following the bye week, that list includes the Los Angeles Rams, the Houston Texans, the Baltimore Ravens, the New York Jets, and the New England Patriots.

Clearly, the Chargers continue to have a tough schedule, and even after a bye week that could allow Los Angeles to recover, their list of opponents simply does not let up.

When it comes to when the Chargers could pick up their first win, it could come in any of these next five games when they take the field, but in the end, this team has to find a way to play a full 60 minutes of football which is something that Los Angeles has been unable to do just yet.

Based on that, it will be interesting to watch the matchup between the Chargers and the Rams in Week 8 as the Rams are also struggling to stack wins with an overall record of 2-4 to start the season.

The Rams struggles are a bit different as the offense and defense have been solid, but the special teams have been the inconsistent element, while for the Chargers the defense and special teams have been serviceable, but the offense has struggled significantly.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to monitor if either team makes any intriguing moves that could change the outlook of this week 8 matchup.

Looking at the other matchups on this list, the Chargers will have their hands full with three teams, the Texans, Ravens, and Patriots, who all appear to be trending in the right direction and could very well be three of the better teams in the AFC as well as in the entire NFL.

The final matchup to look at is the Jets, who currently sit at 2-4, and while in past seasons teams have looked at New York as a mostly non-competitive team, this year is a lot different in the sense that the Jets have been able to stay in a lot of games with the defense playing quite well, especially up front.

On the Chargers' side, one of their biggest weaknesses is the health of the offensive line, so it is possible that this game against the Jets could be very difficult if the offensive line cannot get healthy and perform much better than they currently are to protect quarterback Justin Herbert.

With all that said, the matchup against the Jets is definitely one the Chargers have the ability to win, but it will take a great effort from Los Angeles for all four quarters, and in particular on the offensive line.

So, when considering when the Chargers could pick up their first win, it is clear that the next five games will not be easy, but the games against the Rams and the Jets specifically could present opportunities for this team to take a step forward and play much more consistently to pick up their first win of the 2026 season.

Regardless of when the Chargers do pick up their first win, it is vital that Los Angeles finds a way to replicate that performance to instill confidence in the players, the coaches, the front office, and ownership that this team has the ability to respond to adversity and be much better after a tough start to the season.
