Taking a look at the Los Angeles Chargers players who missed practice on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Chargers have a very tough test ahead of them as they go on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks.
For the Chargers, they have to overcome several things including a tough road environment, the struggles they have had to be consistent on offense, as well as an assortment of injuries.
Speaking of injuries, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh provided some insight as to which players missed practice on Wednesday, and that could very well play a key role in who plays on Sunday.
According to Chargers ESPN reporter Kris Rhim, Harbaugh indicated the players missing practice on Wednesday include edge rusher Khalil Mack (rest), defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson (hamstring), cornerback Donte Jackson (concussion), defensive tackle Justin Eboigbe (undisclosed), left guard Kayode Awosika (fibula), tight end Charlie Kolar (forearm), and wide receiver Brenen Thompson (quadricep).
When looking at these injuries it is very clear that there are quite a few of them and some of these players missing practice is a bigger deal than others.
To start, Mack resting is not something to worry about, as he is a veteran and he actually rested last week, and on Sunday, he performed well.
Focusing on Tomlinson, Awosika, Kolar, and Thompson, they all missed the Week 3 loss against the Buffalo Bills, so it will be very intriguing to monitor each of them as it gets to Sunday.
In particular, it is going to be interesting to watch Awosika as fellow offensive lineman Trevor Penning had to step in with Awosika out, and it was not a great result collectively as the entire offensive line struggled to protect quarterback Justin Herbert on a consistent basis.
Looking at Eboigbe, Thursday should be a much better indication of where he is at because his injury is undisclosed, so there is not much to infer as there is simply not a ton of information on it.
As far as Jackson goes, he is in concussion protocol after leaving the game in the first half on Sunday. With a head injury like Jackson has, it is very difficult to know what the timetable is because each player is different and not all situations are the same.
With that said, it will be very interesting to monitor how Jackson progresses and whether or not the Chargers may need to rely on cornerback depth a lot in Week 4.
So, heading into Week 4, the Chargers are not in a horrible spot when it comes to injuries, but it will be intriguing to watch how each of these players progresses and if they can help Los Angeles finally get in the win column on Sunday.
