Reid addresses the possibility of a Tyreek Hill reunion, weighing the star receiver's injury status and potential return date against his electrifying past.

A month before NFL free agency begins, the Miami Dolphins decided to release eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

That means Hill can already begin to explore the market and see where he ends up. It also makes Hill a free agent for the first time in his career.

Some common links are the Los Angeles Chargers, who hired former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel as the new offensive coordinator. The Kansas City Chiefs are also an obvious fit, and a return to an Eric Bieniemy-led offense would make sense for all parts of this equation.

Hill began his career in Kansas City before being traded to the Dolphins and signing a massive contract extension, but reuniting with Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and Bieniemy would be a breath of fresh air for the Chiefs

On Friday, Reid spoke about the possibility of bringing Hill back, but it doesn't seem anything is close to being worked on with the veteran WR.

"There’s nothing happening there, but we know that he’s out there and cranking away," Reid said.

The Chiefs coach said he isn't sure if Tyreek is healthy or not, and he is recovering from a dislocated knee and a torn ACL he suffered in September.

There is a chance that Hill doesn't play at all in 2026, depending on how he recovers from the injury, so this would be a move that likely begins in 2027 with him returning to the field.

Hill turns 32 on March 1, so that is another reason to be a bit concerned about bringing him in.

Hill was electric during his time in Kansas City, and his Miami tenure started off well before the injury in 2025 and some quarterback issues.

Going forward, the big question for the Chiefs or any other team thinking of signing Hill is regarding the injury.

A torn ACL is never easy to recover from, and for a speedy wide receiver who is on the wrong side of 30, it is even more challenging.

Then again, if Hill even is remotely close to returning to his top-end production we saw time and time again, it could be a steal of a signing for whichever team makes the move to sign him to a new deal.

Right now, Reid isn't sure if Hill is healthy, and until then, who knows what the market looks like for the former Chiefs star.
