The Kansas City Chiefs had a great draft class and now have over 100 undrafted free agents competing for a spot on the roster.
The Kansas City Chiefs had seven picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, and paired with rookie minicamp this week, the franchise has had over 100 rookies in town.
On this week's episode of Roundtable's Chiefs podcast, our duo of Chico and Golden J breaks down a few of their favorite rookies and looks into what each has accomplished thus far. Below are a few of the many names discussed by the duo.
Pick No. 6, Mansoor Delane
Starting off with the Chiefs' first pick, LSU's cornerback Mansoor Delane. Chico begins the analysis with a comparison to former Chiefs' star Trent McDuffie, who Golden J agrees could be a replacement for the All-Pro CB.
Despite the high praise, our duo and most of the football world were absolutely shocked to see Delane get drafted at pick No. 6 -- as both the team and Delane kept the interest under wraps.
Golden J and Chico discuss the solid defensive plays from Delane at LSU, and note that the consensus is "a lot of people wouldn't throw it his way."
Undrafted FA Jayden Ott
Ott was an undrafted free agent running back out of the University of California, who allegedly could be in competition for the fourth spot on the team's RB depth chart. Currently, Ott would be deep on the depth chart, with RB Brashard Smith ahead of him, but there could be some heavy competition for that fourth spot.
Pick No. 29, Peter Woods
The Chiefs drafted Clemson's defensive lineman Peter Woods at the tail end of the first round, someone who Golden J isn't yet sold on. There are a few question marks in his game that lead to the uncertainty, but Golden J is hopeful that he can be disruptive and get to the opposing quarterback.
One interesting tidbit is how Woods was used at Clemson, specifically offensively. The 21-year-old had two touchdowns on offense, as well as a few first down's in the backfield. This raises the question of whether Kansas City would use him similarly, and both Chico and Golden J are hoping they do.
