The Kansas City Chiefs are getting closer to the season opener, but they may be without their newly acquired star.
While there's still admittedly a lot of mystery surrounding the details of the injury, running back Kenneth Walker is battling a foot injury.
The 2026 Super Bowl MVP was held out of a few practices, leading to Golden J predicting that we won't see him on the field in the Chiefs' third and final preseason game against his former team, the Seattle Seahawks, on Friday, Aug. 28.
Only time will tell when Walker will return to the field, but for now, fans will have to eagerly await any updates on his health.
Taking a look into Kansas City's second preseason game, a 16-15 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, our hosts look at some of the highlights. Most notably, kicker Harrison Butker's 69-yard field goal -- which would have been an NFL record if it were not the preseason.
Despite the loss, the Chiefs' defense looked great; bolstering three sacks in the game from the hands of defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah, defensive back Jaden Hicks and defensive tackle Amari McNeil.
Moving on to some news regarding familiar faces, Golden J mentions that the Detroit Lions are reportedly showing interest in ex-Kansas City running back Kareem Hunt a move that our hosts think they should look to make happen.
With RB Isaiah Pacheco, who signed a four-year deal with Detroit in the offseason, out with a back injury, the move makes sense for both sides.
Wrapping up the episode, Golden J and Chico discuss the upcoming preseason finale and the long-term implications of the game against Seattle.
First, neither of our hosts expects to see quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the field, as he's at higher risk of injury while he recovers from surgery to repair his ACL and LCL. Essentially, there's no need to risk further damage to the franchise's QB. However, the expectation is that Mahomes will get the green light to play in the regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos.
Next, the duo look into the many players who are on the fringe of making Kansas City's 53-man roster, which will need to be finalized by Sunday, Aug. 30.
