Last season, the Chiefs won nearly every week, as they finished the regular season with a record of 15-2. However, throughout the year, the Chiefs won in some of the wildest ways you could ever imagine.
They blocked a field goal against the Denver Broncos at the end of regulation, and the Las Vegas Raiders botched a snap as they were trying to knock the Chiefs off at the end of the game.
The Chiefs posted an absurd 11-0 record in one possession games, which was the best record in NFL history.
While they have lost more games this year already than they did all of last year, this Chiefs team feels more like a true Super Bowl team because they are dominating teams.
During a segment on Sunday NFL Countdown, Rex Ryan said this Chiefs team is different than last year's that went to the Super Bowl.
"7.1 points margin of victory last year, this year, 19," Ryan said. "19 points and they haven't had Rashee Rice but for two games. So to me, this is a way more explosive team than they have been in the past. That's why I think they are extremely dangerous."
Of the Chiefs' five wins this year, their closest win is 13 points against both the New York Giants and the Detroit Lions.
Since Rice became eligible to play two weeks ago, the Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders and the Washington Commanders by a combined score of 59-7.
What the Chiefs did last season was special, and will probably never be done again when it comes to winning that many close games. While the Chiefs definitely made the plays to win those games, they easily could have lost three or four of them.
This year, they are leaving no doubt on who is going to win the game. The offense with Patrick Mahomes is getting a ton of talk this year, and rightfully so. They look as explosive as they have since the beginning of the Mahomes era.
Combine that with a defense that is once again looking like the best in the league, and that is a recipe for dominating, convincing victories.
Sunday's matchup against the Buffalo Bills figures to be a much more competitive game. The Bills have built their team to beat Kansas City, and they have won four of the five regular season matchups with Mahomes and Josh Allen as quarterbacks.
However, as they showed last season, they are also more than capable of winning a close game as well.
