Chiefs cornerback Nohl Williams is allowing one of the NFL's lowest passer ratings through seven weeks, highlighting his impressive second season in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a young cornerback who is quietly putting together one of the NFL's strongest statistical performances in pass coverage.

Second-year defender Nohl Williams has emerged as one of the league's toughest cornerbacks to throw against, according to several statistical rankings.

Through Week 7, Williams has allowed a passer rating of just 50.0 when targeted, according to Fantasy Points Data.

That ranks second among 98 qualifying NFL defenders who have faced at least 21 targets, trailing only Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie (34.7).

Williams also ranks ahead of several established defensive stars, including Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who is listed at 90.4 in the same rankings.

The impressive numbers extend beyond one analytics provider.

According to Pro Football Focus, Williams has allowed a passer rating of just 43.0 when targeted, the fifth-lowest mark among qualifying cornerbacks.

PFF also credits him with 12 receptions allowed, four pass breakups and an interception.

Meanwhile, Pro Football Network ranks Williams second among 104 cornerbacks with a 96.0 Impact Grade, trailing only McDuffie (97.1).

PFN also gives Williams a 90.7 coverage grade, third-best in the NFL, and a league-leading 95.0 playmaking grade.

The numbers reflect a significant step forward for the 24-year-old defender, whom Kansas City selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of California.

Williams appeared in all 17 games as a rookie, making five starts and recording 48 tackles and seven passes defended.

He has already matched that pass-defense total through six appearances this season while recording his first career interception.

That milestone came during Kansas City's 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on October 25.

Williams intercepted quarterback Sam Darnold in the end zone and returned the ball 65 yards, providing one of the Chiefs' few defensive highlights in an otherwise frustrating defeat.

He also finished the game with a career-high 10 tackles.

Williams' development has become increasingly important for a Kansas City secondary dealing with injuries ahead of Sunday's AFC West showdown against Denver.

Rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane has been ruled out with a shoulder injury, while veteran L'Jarius Sneed has been placed on injured reserve.

Those absences could place even greater responsibility on Williams as Kansas City attempts to rebound from its first loss of the season.

The Chiefs have been counting on Williams to develop into a reliable starter since the offseason, when competition in their revamped secondary was one of the team's biggest training camp storylines.

Based on his performance through seven weeks, Kansas City has reason to believe its emerging cornerback is capable of handling the challenge.
