After six long weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs will have wide receiver Rashee Rice in the lineup for the first time this season.

Rice violated the National Football League’s personal conduct policy when he was involved in a multi-vehicle accident last March. He pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges, served 30 days in jail and received probation on top of his six-game suspension from the NFL.

Now, as the Chiefs sit at 3-3 through six games, Rice has been reinstated and will suit up in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chiefs’ offense has been up and down so far this season, but it seems like the unit is starting to get into a little groove. They have scored at least 28 points in three consecutive games and draw a Raiders defense that has really struggled, especially against the pass.

There was speculation about how Rice would be used in his first game back; will he have a WR1 workload right away? Or will it take some time for Rice to get caught up to speed?

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Rice is expected to have a large role from the jump.

“The Chiefs won't be easing Rashee Rice back into action,” Fowler wrote Wednesday. “They will be allocating a heavy workload for him as soon as possible. Rice, who returns from suspension this week, has been in the building for weeks, had an excellent training camp and is in peak physical shape. A team source says Rice will be "full bore" this week as he gets back onto the practice field. The Chiefs have long envisioned an offense with a receiving trio of Rice, Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown on the same field, with Tyquan Thornton and JuJu Smith-Schuster as complementary guys. That's a really strong five-man receiving group.”

When asked about what Fowler reported, Head Coach Andy Reid had a hilarious response:

“Well, he’s going to play. How many snaps will he get? Ask Jeremy, he’ll tell ya.”

Adding Rice to a talented receiving core doesn’t just elevate that room, it elevates everything around him. The passing game influences the running game and vice versa, so the running game that hasn’t amounted to much through six weeks should look better and better as the season progresses.
