The Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl streak and postseason streak came to an end in 2025.
However, 2026 is hopefully going to be different, especially if Patrick Mahomes can fully recover from a torn ACL and be ready to play in Week 1.
The Chiefs are about to enter free agency, trying to land a true No. 1 WR for Mahomes once again. And, although Tyreek Hill is a free agent and a reunion makes sense, Andy Reid insisted they are waiting to see how Hill recovers from his injury.
Plus, Hill being ready in 2026 at any point is unlikely.
The Chiefs have the No. 9 overall pick in the draft, and they have commonly been linked to Notre Dame star Jeremiyah Love, which makes plenty of sense.
However, a recent mock draft from Henry McKenna of Fox Sports has the Chiefs selecting a wide receiver: Ohio State star Carnell Tate.
"The Chiefs invest yet again in their passing game to support quarterback Patrick Mahomes," McKenna wrote.
Tate caught 51 passes for 875 yards with nine touchdowns, finishing behind Jeremiah Smith in all of those categories.
ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has Tate as his No. 1 WR in the class, and he even had him going as high as No. 6 overall to the Cleveland Browns in a recent mock draft, so the Chiefs landing Tate would make a lot of sense here.
While Love to KC makes sense, there is a chance the Chiefs address the running back position in free agency with players such as Travis Etienne and Kenneth Walker III as some options.
If that is the case, it likely suggests that the Chiefs might grab another offensive player, and Tate landing with them at No. 9 might finally give Mahomes a true home run threat who can catch the ball at a high rate.
Tate's 40 time raised some eyebrows, but it shouldn't matter. He should widely be considered the best WR in this year's class, and there isn't much debate whatsoever.
Tate played alongside the best WR in college football in Jeremiah Smith, and he still put up big numbers in 2025.
Mahomes throwing passes to Tate would be fun to watch in Kansas City, and it would give new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy (who returned this offseason) a true star on the offense to use in a number of ways.
