Kansas City right tackle Jaylon Moore entered concussion protocol during Sunday's win over the Chargers, leaving the Chiefs with more offensive-line uncertainty.
The Kansas City Chiefs remained unbeaten with Sunday's 22-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, but the win came at another cost to their offensive line.
Starting right tackle Jaylon Moore suffered a concussion in the first half and did not return, leaving Kansas City without both starting offensive tackles.
Moore entered concussion protocol late in the second quarter and was replaced by Joshua Ezeudu, according to Arrowhead Pride.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed the injury after the game.
"Jaylon Moore has a concussion. That's the one that stands out the most," Reid said, according to Arrowhead Pride.
Moore has started all five games for Kansas City this season, making his departure particularly concerning for an offensive line already dealing with injuries.
Left tackle Josh Simmons has not played this season because of a back injury. Although Simmons returned to practice last week, the Chiefs ruled him out against Los Angeles.
Undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson has filled in at left tackle, while Moore has handled the right side.
Ezeudu, acquired from the New York Giants before the season, took over at right tackle and remained there for the rest of the contest.
The fifth-year lineman entered the game with 10 career starts, most of them at left tackle or left guard. His experience at right tackle has been limited, although he worked at the position during the preseason.
Left guard Kingsley Suamataia returned to the starting lineup against the Chargers after being benched during the Chiefs' previous game against Las Vegas.
Suamataia briefly left Sunday's contest after being kicked in the calf, but Reid indicated he should be fine.
Despite the injuries, Kansas City's offense kept producing.
Kenneth Walker III rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Chiefs improve to 5-0 with their victory over Los Angeles.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes credited the team's offensive-line depth afterward.
"I think guys have done a great job all year," Mahomes said. "Guys are ready to step up when their number is called."
Kansas City now faces another test of that depth.
Moore must clear the NFL's concussion protocol before returning, while Simmons' availability remains uncertain.
Unless one of them is ready for Kansas City's next game, the Chiefs could find themselves relying on two backup tackles to protect Patrick Mahomes.
