The Kansas City Chiefs will have to watch the Super Bowl from home, as a longtime rival makes yet another trip to the big dance.
The New England Patriots punched their ticket to Super Bowl LX on Sunday against the Chiefs' divisional rival, the Denver Broncos. New England and Kansas City have a lot of history together, and have both been at the front of the AFC for the past decade, although the Patriots have a new-look team that secured the AFC title this season.
Looking into the exciting events coming up, the Pro Bowl being one of them, our duo discusses the Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce, who is allegedly not participating in the game, but don't believe it's anything serious. The 36-year-old has been weighing whether he'll retire this offseason or come back for at least one more season -- which is likely the reason for his absence in the Pro Bowl.
While on the topic of Kelce's retirement decision, Golden J brings up the recent story making headlines of Chiefs' owner Clark Kent saying that he'd like to have Kelce back for at least one more season, and Chico mentions that if he comes back, a 1,000-yard season is not off the table.
The Chiefs have finally made the Eric Bieniemy hiring official, after a lengthy period of not knowing where the two stand, but hearing rumors that he was coming back to Kansas City as their offensive coordinator.
Golden J has high hopes for Bieniemy and wants him to get the running backs into shape for the 2026-27 season, and Chico also shares some excitement about the reunion.
Do you think Reid trusts Bieniemy more than he did Matt Nagy? Listen to the podcast to hear what our duo has to say about that debate.
What exactly is missing from the Chiefs' offense? Golden J and Chico talk about the differences between receivers from years past and the current group -- then mention what needs to be addressed this offseason to improve on the passing game.
Lastly, Kansas City gave out team awards, so Golden J goes down the list and gives some thoughts on each of the awards given out and the two do a bit of a deep dive into whether it was deserved or not.
As always, be sure to listen to the full podcast and join Roundtable's Chiefs site to ensure you won't miss anything with the team.
