It doesn’t take much for the Kansas City Chiefs to change the odds picture when it comes to  winning the Super Bowl, and a shift among the favorites  this week helped the Chiefs move up the board to assume their usual position at the top.

After beating the Detroit Lions on Sunday night, the Chiefs are now co-favorites along with the Buffalo Bills. Their betting line rose to +650 after falling as low as +1400 following their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a story written by Scott Phillips of The Athletic

The Chiefs also got some help from the Bills, whose lackluster play in the last two weeks has knocked them out of their solo hold on the favorite slot. They’re now 4-2, but the Atlanta Falcons dominated the Bills in their most recent loss. The Bills are now on their bye week, and they clearly have a lot to figure out.

As for the Chiefs, it’s the way they’re playing that stands out. Kansas City’s defense went toe-to-toe with the Philadelphia Eagles in their Week 2 loss, and offensively they dominated the Lions, who have been a favorite coming out of the NFC, in last week’s 30-17 victory.

The Chiefs’ receiving room is suddenly rejuvenated, and this week we get to see what that looks like against the Las Vegas Raiders. Receiver Xavier Worthy has brought the speed element back into Kansas City’s game, and Rashee Rice adds a unique combinations of speed and after-the-catch physicality that gives them a full complement of weapons.

Kansas City has also been helped by the some fading from several a couple of other AFC favorites. Buffalo’s down, and the Baltimore Ravens are out completely thanks to the combination of an awful defense and Lamar Jackson being out with a hamstring injury. The Bengals are usually an outlier threat with Joe Burrow, but he’s gone for an extended stretch due to a toe injury.

What’s left doesn’t really scare the Chiefs. The AFC South is dominated by the resurgent Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars, but we really have no idea if either of those early risers will stand up over the long haul. Kansas City's toughest task right now is to re-secure divisional dominance, as they're a game behind the 4-2 Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos at 3-3.

According to ESPN, the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions occupy the third and fourth slots, respectively. The Chiefs have already taken care of the Lions, and the Packers are something of a mystery team after a strong start, with a bizarre tie with the Dallas Cowboys marring their record.
