The Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting the Denver Broncos for a highly anticipated season opener on Monday Night Football.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking for vengeance this season after missing the playoffs for the first time in over a decade last season.

The hunt to get back to greatness begins Monday night, when Kansas City hosts their division rival, the Denver Broncos.

Denver is looking to cement itself as the team to beat in the AFC West after the Chiefs' shortcomings last year, and the rivalry all comes to a head on Monday Night Football to kick off the season.

Golden J and Chico open this week's episode discussing some storylines to follow as the game inches closer, first talking about a notable absence to kick off the year.

Offensive tackle Josh Simmons is not expected to play against Denver after sustaining a back injury toward the tail end of training camp.

While on the topic of injuries, Kansas City's quarterback Patrick Mahomes is notably making his return to the field just nine months after tearing his ACL and LCL. Similarly, Denver's QB Bo Nix is suiting up just months after sustaining an ankle injury that sidelined him from the AFC Championship Game.

The Chiefs have a few new weapons in the form of rookies, as well as the former Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker.

Looking at the new faces entering the league, wide receiver Cyrus Allen can be a threat down the field, cornerback Mansoor Delane may be able to lock down some of the Broncos' receivers and defensive end R Mason Thomas will try to cause chaos on the line of scrimmage, to name a few.

Walker, however, is expected to be one of the best RBs in Kansas City's backfield in quite some time, finally giving Mahomes help in the run game. Whether Mahomes' ability to scramble out of the pocket and take off with the football will be diminished is yet to be seen, but the Chiefs finally have the ability to advance the ball down the field with a talented back.

Tight end Travis Kelce's usage is still to be seen, as the 36-year-old is a 13-year veteran who may not be as spry as he once was. That was certainly the case last year, but Kansas City struggled to score regardless of Kelce's talent.

After discussing the upcoming game, our hosts look at the rest of the league and weigh in on who might be able to challenge the Chiefs for the top spot, presuming Kansas City can get back to their winning ways.
