Chris Simms identifies two unexpected AFC threats poised to challenge the Chiefs' reign, highlighting formidable defenses and competitive coaching.

The Kansas City Chiefs have now won back-to-back games against the Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders to get above .500.

After an 0-2 start, things are taking a turn in the right direction for Patrick Mahomes and company, and it sure helps having young wide receiver Rashee Rice back after he finished serving a six-game suspension.

While the Chiefs will likely still be viewed as an AFC contender, and maybe even the favorite, Chris Simms named two AFC teams that could be threats to Kansas City.

Those two are the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots.

"The AFC is underwhelming," Simms said. "Two teams that are on my radar that can take Kansas City out, yes Indianapolis is one of them."

Simms mentioned the Colts defense as a reason why, and quarterback Daniel Jones has them 6-1 so far.

Simms also spoke about the Patriots, especially with head coach Mike Vrabel having this New England team playing competitive football so far this season.

"That to me is the two teams I look at to be the most dangerous. There are some other ones that are on the radar, but I think those are the top two culprits for me," Simms concluded.

Not mentioning either of the Buffalo Bills or Baltimore Ravens shows how this season has gone in the AFC already.

The Ravens are a wreck and Lamar Jackson has been injured, and while the Bills are a good team, the Chiefs have been able to beat them time and time again in the postseason.

The Chiefs and Colts face off in Week 12 in Kansas City, but the Patriots and Chiefs don't face each other in the regular season.

Still, Simms says to watch out for those teams, and the Patriots lead the AFC East and the Colts have the AFC South lead so far this season.
