Roundtable's Golden J and Chico discuss the Kansas City Chiefs' recent hires and look into what needs to be done ahead of next season.

The Kansas City Chiefs' rumor mill has been churning this week, so Golden J and Chico are here to cover everything with the franchise as they navigate the offseason.

First on the agenda is not a rumor: the Miami Dolphins have officially released wide receiver Tyreek Hill. This transaction has started plenty of rumors across the NFL, as fans and media outlets have tried to predict his next landing spot.

The Chiefs have obviously been at the forefront of some of these rumors, with many wondering if Kansas City and Hill would entertain a reunion, pairing the wide receiver with an elite quarterback in Patrick Mahomes once again.

Golden J isn't exactly sold on the idea just yet, noting that the star was set to receive $22.8 million next season and doesn't think the Chiefs will cough up that type of cash for Hill, even with contract restructuring. But that all might've changed since the podcast recording.

Wednesday morning ESPN's Adam Schefter announced that Kansas City restructured Mahomes' contract, lowering his salary cap from $78.2 million to $34.65 million for the upcoming season. The move created $43.56 million in salary cap space, which could mean a few things: the Chiefs could allocate some of that toward Hill, or they may spread the wealth around toward various positional upgrades. What exactly the franchise plans to do is yet to be seen, but the Chiefs do have the financial ability to sign Hill if they want to.

Looking into some hopeful changes to be made ahead of next season, Golden J mentions how the team needs to improve the running game -- and has the tools to do so. The Chiefs reunited with Eric Bieniemy as the offensive coordinator, who loves to put emphasis on the run game. Kansas City also hired DeMarco Murray as the running back coach, and the duo hypothesizes that those two hires will lead to a better run game next season.

It's safe to say that the Chiefs have made some exciting updates to their coaching staff, and all that's left to do is round out the roster. One area the team could make an impactful addition is through the NFL Draft, which the team selects at the ninth-overall spot.

Be sure to listen to the full podcast to hear who the duo wants the Chiefs to select with that draft pick, and what else they would like the team to do this offseason! As always, be sure to join Roundtable's Chiefs site and join our community to voice your opinions.
