A high-profile receiver lands in Kansas City? Explore the controversial, yet potentially game-changing, possibility of Stefon Diggs joining Patrick Mahomes.

It's quite unusual, at least in recent years, to see the Kansas City Chiefs picking in the top 10 of the NFL Draft.

This year, the Chiefs have the No. 9 overall selection. For much of the offseason, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love was the consensus pick there for KC, but things changed drastically once Kenneth Walker III came to town with a new contract in free agency.

So, the Chiefs could add an impact defensive player at No. 9, and they also have another first-round pick due to sending Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Chiefs' big needs right now are defensive tackle, edge and wide receiver, and even Ohio State WR Carnell Tate and Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson have been linked to the Chiefs at No. 9.

However, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report had another idea: Stefon Diggs. Davenport named one fit for each team, and he linked Diggs to the Chiefs.

"Bringing in Stefon Diggs wouldn't be a weird move, though. The Chiefs need to add a wide receiver to a room that currently sports Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and not much else. Kansas City has also made something of a habit of bringing in veteran wide receivers who were cast off by other teams," Davenport wrote.

Does Diggs come with some off-the-field headaches? Sure. But, the talent is obvious, and he was a massive part of the New England Patriots' Super Bowl run.

Diggs had 85 receptions for 1,013 yards with four touchdowns in the regular season, but the Patriots decided not to bring him back, sending him to the open market once again.

He turns 33 years old in November and while the age is getting up there, he can still be productive.

Hollywood Brown left to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, and outside of Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, there aren't many reliable options for Patrick Mahomes at the WR position.

Diggs could immediately come in and be the WR1, and putting him next to Travis Kelce and Kenneth Walker III in the same offense could be a magical sight, especially with Eric Bieniemy back in town as the playcaller on offense.

It has its risks, but the Chiefs could give Diggs a one-year deal and give the wide receiver a legitimate chance to play in the Super Bowl again.

At the same time, Diggs would probably love to catch passes from Mahomes, so it could be a perfect fit for both sides.
