Speedy wideout Hollywood Brown spent two seasons with Kansas City before leaving for Philadelphia, but with the Eagles struggling a return to Arrowhead Stadium could be in the cards.
Smelling blood in the water - aka, the Kansas City Chiefs' underperforming wide-receiver room - the NFL insiders have been engaging in a feeding frenzy of trade speculation as they try to guess which, if any, wideouts the Chiefs may add to their passing-game arsenal before the window shuts on the 2026 NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10.
If one recent prediction comes true, veteran receiver Marquise Brown may need to consider changing his nickname from "Hollywood" to "Boomerang."
That's because on Thursday, Kristopher Knox, writing for Bleacher Report, said a return of prodigal-son Brown to Kansas City would be an "ideal landing spot" for him.
After two seasons in KC, Brown inked a one-year deal with the Eagles - with a maximum value of $6.5 million - in March, but with the Eagles sitting at 2-5 and quarterback Jalen Hurts out for the season, a retool may be looming for the franchise.
If the Chiefs did kick the wheels on Brown, it would definitely be a buy-low option and certainly not one that would nudge many needles, at least not with the way Brown has performed so far in 2026.
After sitting through the indignity of a "DNP-Coach's Decision" in Week 1, Brown saw the field briefly in Week 2, with not a single ball thrown his way and two rushing attempts for 12 yards.
He did, however, hurt an ankle in that game, which sidelined him until he saw his first extended action in the Eagles' 38-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. Of the five targets he saw, he grabbed two for 30 yards.
Despite the meager production so far this season, Knox opined that the Chiefs may make the most sense as a trade destination for Brown.
"If Brown is moved, the Kansas City Chiefs would be the most logical destination," he wrote. "Kansas City could use more receiver depth, and the 29-year-old spent his last two seasons with the Chiefs. The Eagles couldn't expect more than a late-round pick for him, but he's clearly expendable, even with multiple injuries at receiver."
Brown, despite getting older, does have the pedigree of an alpha-dog receiver. A first-round draft pick (No. 25 overall) of the Baltimore Ravens out of the University of Oklahoma in 2019, he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2022 for another first-rounder after putting together three seasons of more than 55 catches and 700 yards in Baltimore, including a 91-catch, 1,008-yard gem in 2021.
Brown arrived in Kansas City as a free agent in March 2024 and his first stint with the club was not without its high moments. Injuries limited him to two games and nine catches in 2024, but he had a solid 49-catch, 587-yard, 5-touchdown campaign in 2025, a performance that had some lamenting the Chiefs' decision to let him test the free-agent waters.
Now, there may a chance for the team to open the door and invite him back into Chiefs Kingdom. The team's serious need for more sparkle at the WR spot could make it a pretty palatable option.
