Josh Simmons left the Kansas City Chiefs just hours before the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions, but he rejoined the team on Monday at the team facility.

Josh Simmons has been away from the Kansas City Chiefs since he left the team right before the start of the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs kept the details to themselves, only saying that he was dealing with a personal family matter. On Monday, it was reported that Simmons was back in Kansas City, and was at the team facility.

The timing of his return couldn't come at a better time for the Chiefs, as their offensive line was dominated in the 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had the worst game of his NFL career, as he completed less than 50% of his attempts for the first time in his career. He was sacked three times, and was also hit an astonishing 15 times.

With Simmons gone, Jaylon Moore had been playing the left tackle position. He had a done a really nice job the last couple of weeks, but he had a really tough day on Sunday. Joey Bosa was able to get pressure on Mahomes throughout the entire game.

The timing for Simmons returning is one to note because the Chiefs will be on a bye this week. This allows him to ease back into the swing of things, rather than having to get right back on the field.

Right tackle Jawaan Taylor suffered an ankle injury late in the game against the Bills, so having him back would allow Moore to be right tackle if Taylor misses any time.

Simmons returning is huge for the Chiefs, as they are now 5-4 on the season and for the first time in a long time, they are on the outside looking in when it comes to the AFC West race.

The Chiefs are currently two games behind the Denver Broncos, and 1.5 games behind the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs still have a home game against the Chargers, as well as two games against the Broncos. Everything they want to accomplish is in front of them, but they need all hands on deck to get the job done.

Their next game back is at Denver against those Broncos. The offensive line will be tested like it hasn't been all season long, as the Broncos have the best pass rush in the league. They have 40 sacks on the season, with the Lions being second with 28.

Kansas City did well by Simmons as the team allowed him to go take care of his family. Now that he is back, the team needs him to pick right up where he left off when he was playing some very good football.
