Forget Mahomes and Kelce; the league's leading rusher is fueling Kansas City’s undefeated start. The high-priced free agent continues to terrorize defenses, proving he is the AFC's premier weapon.
The Kansas City Chiefs are now 3-0 after a 24-10 win on the road against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
At this rate, the Chiefs might really be the best team in the AFC West, and we really shouldn't have doubted them.
However, a big reason why isn't because of Patrick Mahomes. It's not even because of tight end Travis Kelce or offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
Instead, it's because of the prized free-agent acquisition, running back Kenneth Walker III. Walker ran wild in the first two games, and he entered Week 3 as the league leader in rushing yards.
Walker's usage was through the roof to start the season, and in Week 3, he actually didn't perform as well as many hoped he would. Still, Walker finished with 70 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown, along with two receptions and a receiving score.
It marked the first game this season where Walker didn't pass the 100-yards mark, and he also didn't see 20 carries, as Emmett Johnson carried the ball six times against Miami.
However, here's one fun stat.
Walker is simply giving opposing defenses headaches, and it has only been three weeks with him in Kansas City red.

Want one more stat? This one might sting for Kansas City fans, but this shows how dreadful the running back position was before Walker signed a three-year, $45 million deal in March.
In the second quarter, the Dolphins actually stuffed Walker on back-to-back plays, and that isn't something that will happen very often for the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
So far, Walker has been even better than advertised for Kansas City, and he looks well worth the $15 million per year on average, especially with the way the market is trending as far as money goes at the RB position.
Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry also didn't pass the 100-yard mark in Week 3, although Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson made things interesting with a 194-yard explosion in the Thursday Night Football win over the Green Bay Packers.
It is very early - it has only been three weeks - but Kenneth Walker III continues to look like the best and most important signing of any NFL team during the offseason.
In Week 4, the Chiefs face the Las Vegas Raiders, who are also undefeated.
