Matt Nagy Expected To Interview With Titans cover image

Former Bears head coach Matt Nagy is a top candidate to lead the Titans, poised for another shot at an NFL head coaching role.

While the Kansas City Chiefs will not be in the postseason, they could also see offensive coordinator Matt Nagy leave this offseason.

The former head coach is a hot name in this coaching cycle, and even before Black Monday came, Nagy's name was already circulating.

Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network discussed the Tennessee Titans' job opening after they fired Brian Callahan during the season, and Nagy is expected to get an interview.

"The team fired Brian Callahan in October, giving them a head start on a search that has included homework on dozens of candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds, including college coaches. Former NFL head coaches Mike McCarthy and Matt Nagy (currently the Chiefs OC) -- who worked with Brinker and Borgonzi, respectively -- are expected to be among the Titans' candidates when interviews begin next week. But the team will take a deliberate approach to finding its next leader."

Others, such as Robert Saleh and Jesse Minter, will likely land interviews from the Titans, so this seems like a franchise that will turn over every stone after swinging and missing on the Callahan hire and watching Mike Vrabel become a star as the New England Patriots head coach.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also said that he was "expecting Kansas City offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to be in the mix in Tennessee (and possibly elsewhere)."

And, ESPN's Dan Graziano also mentioned Nagy's name as one to watch in this cycle while tying him to the Titans' job.

"I've heard Nagy's name a lot; it was thrown around in connection with the Titans job seemingly within the first few minutes after Brian Callahan was fired."

Nagy went 34-31 in four seasons as the Chicago Bears head coach from 2018 until 2021, and it seems to be only a matter of time before he gets another chance to be an NFL head coach.

Now, the Titans job won't be very easy to begin with, but at least they have 2025 No. 1 draft pick Cam Ward at quarterback.

Another tough spot is that the AFC South has some dangerous teams, such as the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans, all of which are on the rise and have talented rosters.

But, nonetheless, Nagy returning to Kansas City seems unlikely, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him become a head coach when the 2026 NFL season begins.
