Patrick Mahomes Drops Far In Latest QB Rankings cover image

The Kansas City Chiefs enter Week 15 with a 6-7 record after a loss to the Houston Texans.

Patrick Mahomes didn't throw a touchdown pass, and he had three interceptions in a very forgettable outing.

The loss also puts Kansas City on the brink of elimination, something they haven't dealt with in quite some time.

Now, the Chiefs face the Los Angeles Chargers in a must-win game.

Nick Shook of NFL.com had new quarterback rankings going into Week 15. Unfortunately, Mahomes' ugly performance against the Texans dropped him seven spots, all the way down to No. 12 and in the final spot in Tier 2.

Here's what Shook wrote:

"Sunday night's loss to the Texans might have been the swan song for the Chiefs dynasty. Everything seems difficult for them and Patrick Mahomes can't lift the team out of the mess. He accounted for 10 straight passes that were either incomplete or intercepted and suffered because of his teammates' lack of execution at the other end of his passes. Oddly, his passes didn't look great out of his hand, either, displaying a downward trajectory that mirrors the team's current direction."

Yes, Mahomes play has been up and down, although the Chiefs have had a ton of injuries in the process.

Mahomes' three-interception game is not very common for him, and he has now 22 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.

In 2024, he had 11 interceptions in the entire season, so he is one away from that number, and his career-high is 14 interceptions.

Right now, the Chiefs' dynasty looks like it is coming to a halt, at least for this year. While Mahomes has shown plenty of flashes of brilliance, his performance against the Texans was not pleasing in any way, shape or form.

Let's see if he can turn it around for the final stretch.
