The undefeated Chiefs could reach a 100% projected playoff probability with a Week 7 victory over Seattle, according to a new Pro Football Focus analysis.
The undefeated Kansas City Chiefs are already in excellent position to reach the postseason, but a victory Sunday could push their projected playoff chances to a remarkable milestone.
According to a new Pro Football Focus analysis, Kansas City's probability of making the playoffs would reach 100% in the site's statistical model with a Week 7 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
That would not mean the Chiefs have mathematically clinched a postseason berth. Instead, PFF's projection reflects how strongly its model favors Kansas City to qualify after a potential 6-0 start.
The Chiefs enter Sunday's matchup at 5-0, the only undefeated team in the AFC and one of three remaining unbeaten teams across the NFL.
Kansas City strengthened its position last Sunday with a 22-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, holding its division rival without a touchdown.
The Chiefs have now scored at least 22 points in each of their five victories while allowing an average of just 16.6 points per game this season.
A major reason for Kansas City's success has been the addition of running back Kenneth Walker III, whose production has transformed the offense.
Walker has rushed for 665 yards through five games, putting him on pace to challenge two longstanding NFL records.
His arrival has given quarterback Patrick Mahomes a dependable rushing attack, making Kansas City considerably more difficult for opposing defenses to contain.
The Chiefs are averaging 28 points and an NFL-leading 414 total yards per game entering Week 7.
However, their offense has not been without weaknesses.
Despite Walker's impressive rushing totals, Kansas City has struggled to convert short-yardage opportunities near the goal line.
Those shortcomings have yet to derail the Chiefs' perfect start, but Sunday's opponent presents another significant challenge.
Seattle enters the matchup at 3-3 and will host Kansas City at Lumen Field, where Walker will face his former team for the first time since leaving during the offseason.
The Seahawks also feature one of the league's most productive receivers in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, giving Kansas City's defense another difficult assignment.
For the Chiefs, the immediate goal remains extending their winning streak rather than celebrating a statistical projection.
But PFF's latest analysis underscores just how dramatically Kansas City's postseason outlook has improved through the opening six weeks of the season.
