Golden J and Chico open this week's episode of the Kansas City Chiefs Roundtable podcast by going over the Super Bowl, in which the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots in a defensive masterclass.
As Chiefs fans, Golden J notes that he was very happy to see Patriots quarterback Drake Maye leave the field upset after a heartbreaking loss, after a week of displaying an abundance of confidence leading up to the big game.
New England has now lost the most Super Bowls in NFL history, but Chico acknowledges that you'd have to go to a lot of Super Bowls to lose a lot of Super Bowls.
Regardless of the rivalry between the Chiefs and Patriots, our duo gives New England its flowers and they congratulate head coach Mike Vrabel and Maye on turning around the team and having a Super Bowl berth -- ultimately, once again becoming a possible threat to Kansas City in the AFC.
Looking at some news with the Chiefs, the pair talk about the new stadium that is scheduled to open in 2031 and mention the excitement to see how it will look in just about five years.
The next topic on the podcast was this year's NFL awards recipients, where Golden J and Chico give their thoughts on all the awards, so be sure to listen to the full podcast to hear what they had to say. Then, they review the Hall-of-Fame inductees with some commentary on the sections.
Although it's been a pretty quiet part of the offseason for Chiefs fans, there are still some rumors floating around about staff changes and positional upgrades that may be explored through trade or free agency. While we await the NFL Draft, there will be speculation on who Kansas City will select -- leading to many rumors in the coming months.
Although he hates to discuss anything about it, Golden J reaffirms that he thinks Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce will return to Kansas City for at least one more season -- noting that Kelce and his Fiance Taylor Swift have reportedly pushed back their wedding, opening the door for conversations that it was due to another season on the field.
Looking at the offseason as a whole, Golden J is excited to see how the front office addresses the wide receiver room and hopes that the Chiefs add some weapons for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Chico also notes that he has similar hopes for the running back room.
Be sure to listen to the entire podcast, and see who our duo wants Kansas City to draft in the first round and join Roundtable's Chiefs site to ensure you won't miss anything with the team.
