The Kansas City Chiefs had a very early bye week this season and return to action against the winless Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Oct. 18.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off an early bye week, looking to continue their dominance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Looking at the Chiefs' Week 6 matchup, Kansas City is taking on one of the worst teams in the league, record-wise.

The Chargers are coming off their fifth straight loss, most recently at the hands of the Denver Broncos.

Golden J starts this conversation praising LA's quarterback Justin Herbert, who he believes is still a great QB but has no supporting cast around him this season.

With that being said, this is a game that the Chiefs should have zero issue winning. With the extra week of rest, dominant performances in the first four games, home-field advantage and a Chargers team that is seemingly completely hopeless, Kansas City is walking into a recipe for a win. With that said, the Chiefs can't overlook LA.

The Chargers are still a professional football team and there's no situation where an NFL team can take its foot off the gas.

Looking at the Chiefs' week off, the team did not sign or trade for an NFL-ready wide receiver despite Tyquan Thornton hitting the injured list with a dislocated ankle. Tight end Travis Kelce leads the team in receiving yards, but Thornton is a close second. There's hope that Thornton can return for the playoffs, but he'll be out for an extended period of time regardless.

Head coach Andy Reid mentioned that rookie WR Cyrus Allen might be in the mix a bit more with Thornton's absence but the team does still boast a talented receiving corps consisting of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and the Swiss Army knife of a TE, Kelce.

Ex-Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill was initially believed to be back in KC, but his ongoing legal battle may complicate things. There hasn't been much on that front as of late, but a reunion is still on the table as long as he remains a free agent.

Golden J and Chico breifly discuss a trade that could have been, with the Arizona Cardinals moving Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans. Whether there was a possibility of Harrison landing with the Chiefs is unknown, but a thought to explore.

Kansas City did bring on Justin Watson to their practice squad Monday, though there has been no subsequent move to elevate him to the game-day squad. Watson was previously with the Chiefs from 2022-2024, so he should be relatively familiar with their playbook.
