Coming off two straight losses, the Kansas City Chiefs need to get back to their winning ways against the New York Jets. However, NY's losing record does not mean that the Chiefs can take their foot off the gas.
The Kansas City Chiefs dropped to 5-2 after last Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos and ultimately fell to second in the AFC West.
The Chiefs went into Mile High Stadium looking to sweep the Broncos on the year after Week 1's blowout win but came up short, 28-24.
Our hosts, Golden J and Chico, open up this week's episode of the show, looking at what went wrong, with Golden J specifically pointing out the penalties.
Although they don't believe the refs officiated this one fairly, Kansas City had over 100 yards in penalties, which makes winning the game incredibly difficult.
Both our hosts and the team itself make it known that they were not happy with the calls going against the Chiefs and the lack of calls on the Broncos.
With that said, Golden J admits that it was a great game to watch and it did come down to the wire.
Another frustrating part of the loss was running back Kenneth Walker's surprising struggle. Throughout the first five games, Walker appeared to be in Offensive Player of the Year conversations but his production has drastically slowed down in Kansas City's two straight losses.
The reigning Super Bowl MVP had 21 carries for just 69 yards against Denver, failing to see the end zone. Whether this is a larger problem of the league figuring out how to stop his run game, or just a slump, remains to be seen.
Moving onto the next topic, our hosts discuss the upcoming trade deadline and try to predict what the Chiefs will do. The receiving corps is a notable issue with Kansas City, so Golden J and Chico are hopeful that the team addresses that need as a priority.
The Indianapolis Colts have already begun their firesale, with their running back Jonathan Taylor expected to be traded away before the Nov. 10 deadline -- but Golden J thinks wide receiver Josh Downs might be on the move as well. If so, the Chiefs should take a shot on him.
Looking ahead to Week 9, the Chiefs are back at Arrowhead Stadium hosting the 2-6 New York Jets. Surprisingly, our hosts are a bit worried about the Chiefs winning this game. After dropping two games in a row, the Chiefs can't take NY for granted even with their losing record.
Listen to the full episode for our hosts break down of the loss against Denver and some keys to the game for the upcoming matchup against the Jets.
