INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts (6-1) have elevated defensive end Durell Nchami and cornerback Cameron Mitchell to the active roster from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans (1-6).
Nchami will provide depth for the Colts off the edge, as fellow defensive end Tyquan Lewis (groin) was downgraded to out from questionable on Saturday, and Samson Ebukam (knee) had already been ruled out on Friday. In two preseason games this summer (42 snaps), Nchami had five quarterback pressures, and he routinely had a presence in the backfield throughout training camp.
Mitchell is active for the third consecutive game following a concussion to top cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. Mitchell has played 30 snaps on special teams and 85 on defense, totaling one tackle. After Sunday, the Colts must officially sign Mitchell to the active roster if they are going to play him again, as a practice squad player can only be called up for individual games three times per season.
Despite being shorthanded at defensive end, the Colts' health is beginning to improve after this week of practice. The same cannot be said for the Titans, who will be without three significant players in defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons (hamstring), wide receiver Calvin Ridley (hamstring), and cornerback L'Jarius Sneed (quadricep), the latter of whom was placed on Injured Reserve this week.
Here's how each team's health is shaping up ahead of Sunday afternoon's battle:

WEDNESDAY
THURSDAY
FRIDAY
OUT — DE Samson Ebukam (knee), CB Jaylon Jones (IR-hamstring), DE Tyquan Lewis (groin)
Jones returned to practice this week for the first time since Week 1, when he suffered a recurring injury to the same hamstring that has plagued him since the offseason. He is not yet ready to play, but the Colts could be getting both Jones and Ward back on the field not too far apart, which could give their secondary an enormous boost. That may also help the Colts' pass rush get to quarterbacks more quickly.
While Nchami was called up with the injuries to Lewis and Ebukam, it's rookie second-round pick JT Tuimoloau who is likely to see the most significant uptick in usage behind Kwity Paye and Laiatu Latu. The same goes for defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore, who has played 19 snaps on the edge this season, according to Pro Football Focus.

WEDNESDAY
THURSDAY
FRIDAY
QUESTIONABLE — LB Arden Key (quad), S Xavier Woods (ankle)
OUT — G Blake Hance (shoulder/back), WR Bryce Oliver (knee), WR Calvin Ridley (hamstring), DT Jeffery Simmons (hamstring)
Without Simmons, lined up next to nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat, the Titans will likely use James Lynch. At receiver in place of Ridley, the Titans may spread things around among Elic Ayomanor, Van Jefferson, and Mason Kinsey.
This week, veteran slot receiver Tyler Lockett asked for and was granted his release from the team, which put Chimere Dike into the starting role.
The Colts and Titans face off for the second time this season on Sunday, at 4:25 p.m. E.T., at Lucas Oil Stadium. The game can be viewed on CBS.
