INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts have announced their inactive players ahead of their Week 1 matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium with the Miami Dolphins.
Coming into the game, the only player on the Colts' injury report was running back Tyler Goodson (elbow), who was a limited participant all three days of practice. He ultimately is being held out of the game.
The Dolphins came into the matchup much worse for wear. Right guard James Daniels (ankle) and wide receiver Dee Eskridge (concussion) were both listed as questionable on Friday, although both were cleared to play on Sunday. Cornerback Ethan Bonner (hamstring), tight end Darren Waller (hip), and running back Jaylen Wright (knee) were all ruled out.
The Colts elevated practice squad players, linebacker Austin Ajiake and undrafted rookie running back Ulysses Bentley IV for Sunday's game. With Goodson being inactive, Bentley becomes the Colts' RB3 for the contest.
A somewhat surprising healthy scratch for the Colts is rookie second-round pick, defensive end JT Tuimoloau. As an early-round draft pick who had a great summer, he is being made inactive behind backups Samson Ebukam and Tyquan Lewis.
Daniels being cleared in time to start alongside Austin Jackson at right tackle is big news for Miami, as the right side of their offensive line is healthy enough to play.
