The Indianapolis Colts (0-1) are on the hunt for a bit of redemption on Sunday as they visit the Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Colts are on the heels of an overwhelming Week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at home, but they also let a commanding lead slip through their fingers last year on the road against the Chiefs in a season-defining loss.

Storylines/Keys
- Play a Cleaner Game to Give Offense a Shot: The Colts committed three penalties on kickoff returns and punt returns last Sunday, which contributed to them starting six of their drives within their own 20-yard line. The offense also did itself no favors by turning the ball over twice in the first half, both leading to scores and 14 points for the Ravens. The Colts should be good enough to win if they eliminate the self-inflicted errors.
- Alignment, Assignment: Colts star running back preaches "alignment and assignment" every week, but it's the defense that really needs to heed this call. Last week, they surrendered several big plays as a result of miscommunications and not being lined up properly. Just executing the basic fundamentals and being where you're supposed to can give them a chance against a Patrick Mahomes offense.
Intriguing Matchups
- Colts WR Alec Pierce vs. Chiefs CBs: Another week into his return from offseason ankle/heel surgery, the Colts need Pierce to ascend to top-dog status quickly. He's their main deep threat, and without Dulin on Sunday, he may be their only deep threat. The Colts need to establish a vertical element to their passing offense this week, which they were unable to do in last week's loss.
- Colts CB Justin Walley vs. Chiefs WR Rashee Rice: Walley struggled in the slot last week against an explosive player in Ravens receiver Zay Flowers, but this week's matchup is different. Walley vs. Rice may be more on the physical side, which is more up Walley's alley, but will the Chiefs try to exploit Walley's struggles last week by putting speedster Xavier Worthy in the slot?
- Colts S A.J. Haulcy vs. Chiefs TE Travis Kelce: Mahomes and Kelce have unmatched chemistry and make connections far outside the structure of a play. Haulcy is going to have to play with the utmost discipline on Sunday night, which he did not do last week in his NFL debut. Cam Bynum no longer having green-dot responsibilities can help with the communication between Bynum and Haulcy.
