INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts will likely use a gameday roster spot for reinforcements in the absence of defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, who is on Injured Reserve with a neck injury.
On Saturday, the Colts elevated veteran defensive tackle Chris Wormley from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game. He'll revert to the practice squad afterward.
With Buckner going on IR on November 7, the Colts signed Wormley to the practice squad on November 18 following a workout with five other defensive linemen the week prior.
A former third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2017, Wormley (6'5", 300, 32 years old) has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2020-22), Carolina Panthers (2023), and again with the Ravens (2024). In 87 career games (31 starts), he has 150 tackles (14 for loss), 11.0 sacks, 23 QB hits, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovered, and 10 pass breakups.
Wormley most recently saw the field for Baltimore in 2024, appearing in two games (33 snaps), registering four tackles. Before that, he played 46 snaps in five games for the Panthers in 2023, notching another four tackles.
The veteran last played extensively in 2022 with the Steelers.
The Colts and Texans face off on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium on CBS.
