Despite being on the trade block since February, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. was not included on a recent list of 10 potential NFL trade candidates.
One of the most significant items of anticipation for the Indianapolis Colts this offseason is the future of quarterback Anthony Richardson.
He requested a trade from the Colts in February, but through league events such as the NFL Scouting Combine, the annual league meetings, and the NFL Draft, nothing worthwhile has developed.
As a result, Richardson has returned to the Colts to continue working and wait to either be needed on the field or sent elsewhere.
“I’m not really focused on that right now," Richardson recently said about his trade request. "I’m here right now. I’m just trying to make sure I’m staying healthy and keeping everything up there in the mind sharp.”
Still, a possible trade is on the table. If Richardson can remain healthy and prove he's fully recovered from the eye injury that ended his 2025 season, his value will go up. His financial price also goes down as the calendar churns.
While Richardson has a $10.8 million salary cap hit in 2026, he is guaranteed $5.4 million overall and is due a $4.2 million roster bonus on the third day of training camp, so his price essentially gets cut in half later this summer.
Interestingly, ESPN's Dan Graziano recently put together a list of 10 players whose names will fuel trade speculation up to the NFL's November trade deadline, and Richardson wasn't on it.

Mandatory Credit: Grace Hollars/IndyStarRichardson was, however, listed on Moe Moton of Bleacher Report's list of backup quarterbacks who carry trade value, listing the return for Richardson potentially as a 2027 fifth-round pick.
"Richardson is a former first-round pick who's only 24 years old and came into the league with just one full year of collegiate starting experience out of Florida," Moton wrote.
"Richardson still has room for growth. In two years as a starter, he had some flashes, throwing for 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions and rushing for 634 yards and 10 scores, but he lacked efficiency with a 50.6 percent completion rate.
"At 6'4", 244 pounds, Richardson is a unicorn at quarterback in terms of physical stature. A team may look to acquire him as an intriguing project who has untapped potential."
While many of the primary NFL trade checkpoints have already passed, Richardson's name may be one that heats up during training camp and the preseason when other teams can see that Richardson is healthy, playing at a decent level, and therefore, worth trading for.
