The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent cornerback David Long Jr. to the practice squad.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts have signed free-agent cornerback David Long Jr. to the practice squad following a workout on Monday.

Long (5'11", 196, 27 years old) is now in his second stint with the Colts. He originally came into the league as a third-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 before moving on to the Las Vegas Raiders (2023), Carolina Panthers (2023), Green Bay Packers (2023), New York Giants (2024), and the Colts (2024).

In 79 career games (12 starts), Long has 96 tackles, one interception, and eight pass breakups. He was active for 13 games with the Colts last season, appearing in nine defensive snaps and 106 special teams snaps. He was not credited with any statistics.

Long was released by the Colts in early August during training camp after being placed on Injured Reserve.

The Colts have been ravaged by injuries in the secondary, as Charvarius Ward Sr., Justin Walley, and Jaylon Jones are all on the Injured Reserve list. Mike Hilton is also on the practice squad injured list. Xavien Howard retired after four weeks, and Kenny Moore II missed three games recently.

Long joins Keenan Garber, Cameron Mitchell, and Troy Pride Jr. as cornerbacks on the practice squad behind Moore, Mekhi Blackmon, Johnathan Edwards, and Chris Lammons on the active roster.
