WESTFIELD, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts returned to the fields at Grand Park Sports Campus on Saturday for their eighth practice of training camp after having a day off following their annual night practice on Thursday night.

The team was once again fully padded, but cut practice short, down to an hour. Here's how the day went.

— Players who missed Saturday's practice were: wide receiver Josh Downs (groin, missed one practice), linebacker CJ Allen (hamstring, missed two practices), safety Hunter Wohler (hamstring, missed four practices), running back DJ Giddens (hamstring, missed three practices), wide receiver Laquon Treadwell (hamstring, missed two practices), defensive tackle Tim Smith (missed three practices). Wide receiver Alec Pierce (PUP-ankle) also remains out.

— Wide receiver Eli Pancol, who had missed the previous few practices, returned on Saturday.

— On Friday, the NFL announced that Colts cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt will be suspended for the first game of the regular season for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. According to a league spokesperson, "Taylor-Britt is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, including games. He will be eligible for reinstatement on Monday, September 14."

— The primary first-team offense was: QB Daniel Jones, RB Jonathan Taylor, WR Ashton Dulin, WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, SWR Anthony Gould, TE Tyler Warren, TE Mo Alie-Cox, LT Bernhard Raimann, LG Quenton Nelson, C Tanor Bortolini, RG Matt Goncalves, and RT Jalen Travis.

— The second-team offensive line was: LT Nolan Rucci/Blake Freeland, LG Josh Sills, C Dalton Tucker, RG Jalen Farmer, and RT Luke Tenuta.

— The third-team offensive line was: LT Nolan Rucci, LG Josh Kreutz, C Jimmy Morrissey, RG Geno VanDeMark, and RT Bayron Matos.

— Jones was 11-of-15 passing (73.3%), with completions to Dulin (3), Warren (2), running back Seth McGowan (2), Taylor (2), and Westbrook-Ikhine. During 7-on-7s, Jones had an impressive touchdown throw to Dulin on the right side of the end zone, in which Jones put it only where Dulin could get to it, and Dulin toe-tapped with Taylor-Britt close in coverage. During the late-game drive, Jones was 5-of-7 passing the ball, which concluded in a 28-yard Blake Grupe field goal.

— Quarterback Riley Leonard was 5-of-8 passing (62.5%), with completions to receiver Coleman Owen (2), tight end Will Mallory (2), and Pancol. One of his completions to Owen was a short touchdown, and the other was on an out-and-up route against linebacker Jaylon Carlies, which resulted in about 20 yards.

— Quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. was 2-of-3 passing (66.6%), with completions to receiver Raylen Sharpe and running back Anderson Castle. During 7-on-7s, Richardson threw a back-shoulder pass to receiver Deion Burks on the right side of the end zone, but Richardson placed the ball too far inside, and cornerback Rob Carter Jr. corralled the ball with one arm for the interception.

— The primary first-team defense was: DE Laiatu Latu, DT (3T) Colby Wooden/Adetomiwa Adebawore, DT (1T) Grover Stewart, DE Arden Key, LB Akeem Davis-Gaither, LB Austin Ajiake, CB Sauce Gardner, CB Charvarius Ward Sr., SCB Justin Walley, FS Cam Bynum, and SS A.J. Haulcy.

— Some veteran defensive backs came up with big stops in key situations, as Bynum, Gardner, and Davis-Gaither all had pass breakups inside the red zone.

— Latu was dominant down the stretch, tallying at least three would-be sacks, including two in the final session in which the offense was trying to move the ball downfield with 1:15 remaining on the clock. Both of Latu's final-session sacks came against first-year starting right tackle Travis, who then committed a false start penalty and was pulled off the field.

— Undrafted rookie linebacker Tahj Chambers continues to make some eye-opening plays, this time stuffing running back Roydell Williams at the line of scrimmage by upending him.

— Grupe was 7-of-8 on field goal attempts (87.5%), with makes from 25, 28, 33, 42, 48, 54, and 55 yards. His miss was from 58 yards, which hit the left upright. Since the spring, in practices that the media has watched, Grupe is now 32-of-35 (91.4%), and Shrader is 19-of-27 (70.4%).

— The kickoff return rotation was: Gould (Mekhi Blackmon as lead blocker), Owen (Sharpe as lead blocker), Burks (Sahmir Hagans as lead blocker), and Blackmon (Gould as lead blocker).
