The Indianapolis Colts signed veteran defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi on Wednesday.

The Indianapolis Colts lost out on Trey Hendrickson to the Baltimore Ravens, who are spending up to $120 million for four years for the 31-year-old pass rusher.

The Indianapolis Colts are bringing another player with a winning background into the building, and it's yet another addition to the depth of the defensive line.

On Wednesday, the Colts agreed to terms on a contract with free agent defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, according to his agency, SportsTrust Advisors. Joel Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports it is a one-year veteran salary benefit, accounting for $1,487,500, including $1,075,000 against the salary cap.

Nnadi (6'1", 317, 29 years old) was originally a third-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2018 NFL Draft. He played for the Chiefs through 2024 before signing a one-year deal with the New York Jets, but was traded back to the Chiefs five months later, before the season.

Nnadi has won three Super Bowls with the Chiefs and was a teammate of current Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. during Kansas City's Super Bowl LIV win at the end of the 2019-20 season.

In 130 career games (98 starts), Nnadi has 249 tackles (seven for loss), 5.0 sacks, nine quarterback hits, one forced fumble, one interception, and one pass breakup.

While Nnadi is an accomplished player, his contract indicates he will be brought in to compete for a role. At minimum, even if he doesn't make the roster, he can help be an example for younger players and help establish winning habits.

Nnadi is the fourth veteran defensive lineman the Colts have added this offseason, also trading for Colby Wooden, and signing free agents Arden Key and Micheal Clemons. Meanwhile, former five-year starter Kwity Paye signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, and backup defensive tackle Neville Gallimore signed with the Chicago Bears. Veteran Colts linemen Samson Ebukam, Tyquan Lewis, Eric Johnson II, and Chris Wormley are also still on the open market.
