Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones gave an update on his Achilles rehab on Friday, less than three weeks from the start of training camp.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones hosted a youth camp on Friday evening at Cardinal Ritter High School in Indianapolis.
In between giving a brief speech to those in attendance and interacting and participating in drills with the kids, Jones spoke with the local media and gave an update on his rehab from December Achilles surgery:
On his confidence and comfort level, less than three weeks away from the start of training camp:
"Yeah, I'm feeling good. Feeling good. I think I've made a good bit of progress since minicamp, and we'll continue to do that these next two weeks before (training) camp and then on through camp, but I'm feeling really good and feel like I'm in a good spot."
On what has been the most difficult part of the rehab process:
"I don't know. I think a lot of it is monotonous at times. You're doing a lot of the same things over and over again. So I think it's just about staying focused with that and sticking to the routine of it and trusting that, as you accumulate more and more work and time on certain things, you'll get stronger, get better, and make progress, but it is a long process. So I think just sometimes day after day it can get monotonous."
On whether he's hit any recent milestones that he wanted to before training camp begins:
"Well, I think I hit a lot of those milestones kind of pre-minicamp, and I'm doing everything - cleared to do everything. I think it's just about, at this point, sharpening, getting more explosive, getting stronger, kind of improving what you can do. But I can do everything, and feel really good doing it."
On whether he still thinks about the Achilles while he's working out:
"Yeah, you're still thinking about it. I think, you know, I probably will until you get playing and into games and stuff, and I think that's just - you're putting a lot of time into it. It's kind of the central part of all my training and all my time this offseason. So, you know, still thinking about it, but really happy with where I am."
On getting together with teammates to work out together before training camp:
"Yeah, I've gotten together with guys in spurts. We're going to get together, actually, this week, kind of a bigger group, and work out a little bit. But I know guys are working hard and have been preparing for camp."
The Colts' veterans report to Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Ind. for training camp on Tues., July 28.
