Two of the biggest dominoes still to fall for the Indianapolis Colts this offseason are the future of quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. and cornerback Kenny Moore II.

Both players are on the trade block as of this offseason after asking the Colts to be moved. On Monday, the team acknowledged the trade requests publicly as general manager Chris Ballard spoke to the media ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.

While expressing excitement about the player turnout at the start of the offseason program, Ballard acknowledged that two players who are not in attendance are Moore and Richardson.

BALLARD ON KENNY MOORE II

"Kenny Moore II, who I think you all know, has requested a trade. I had a talk with Kenny. Think very highly of Kenny, not only me personally, but organizationally. And I know the city feels the same way. And look, at the end of the day, talking to him, he just felt like it was time for a change. Nothing much more than that. And because of our respect level for Kenny, we said, ‘Okay.’ Not always easy, especially when you get a pillar that's been a pillar, not only on our team, but in the community."

"I think most of you know my relationship with him, it's close. And so those are not always easy conversations, but they were respectful and good, and we'll see how it works out. I can't – I have really nothing else. You got it all right there. I don't have anything really else on it."

Ballard on whether Moore would be free to explore other options if not traded:

“Some latitude. Yeah, I'll give him some latitude.”

BALLARD ON ANTHONY RICHARDSON SR.

"Anthony has also requested a trade. He's down in Jacksonville training. I actually have talked to his trainer, who's – and I talk to him often and his agent, but he's in good spirits. Nothing has transpired at this point. I don't know any question you're going to ask other than, will he be here? Well, he could be. We'll see. But as of right now, he's down there training in Jacksonville. So, we'll kind of work through that as we go."

Ballard when asked whether "here" means with the team for the offseason program, or on the Colts' roster in 2026:

“Yeah, I mean, I can't tell the future – I don't know what's going to happen. I really don't. You never do. I mean, we've had some talks, but nothing's come to fruition at this time. So at this point, he's still an Indianapolis Colt.”

Ballard on how the transition could be if Richardson is part of the team in 2026:

“Here's the one thing – it was fun to watch with Anthony last year. Like, he's a great teammate. He's a good guy, he's a good person. Cares about team – like that's important. It is. If he was salty and being a – no, we'd be talking a different story here. But that's not who he is.”

Ballard on whether the Colts will pick up Richardson's fifth-year option:

“We have not even talked about it, but that's just one I hadn’t even thought about right now. I'm just thinking more about, ‘Okay, what's his future with us? Is it this year or is it with another team?’”

Ballard on whether Richardson's eye injury is fully healed yet:

“Yeah, he's still recovering a little bit, but like he's cleared for activity and doing everything. So, I think he's in a good spot.”

Ballard on whether the eye recovery is an important part of a potential trade:

“That's an important aspect. No doubt.”

WHAT IF EITHER PLAYER FAILS TO GARNER ADEQUATE TRADE INTEREST?

Ballard on navigating the decision to keep either player on the team if a trade doesn't materialize:

“They're different. They're different in my mind because Kenny, in his mind, it's kind of time for a change," Ballard answered when asked about the potential ramifications if neither is traded. "Anthony is a little different. I still think Anthony has real value in this league, and I've been happy with his growth. And he's an extremely talented young man. So, I think it's a different – I think those are case by case and those are two different cases.”

Ballard when asked if either player would be outright released if not traded:

“I'm not at that point right now. Not as of this minute, I'm not.”
