It was suggested to the Indianapolis Colts that they address these three areas before the season begins.
Despite making some sizable signings throughout March in free agency, the Indianapolis Colts still find themselves with a heavy to-do list ahead of the NFL Draft, which begins on April 23.
Recently, Gilberto Manzano of SI.com set out to identify the three biggest remaining needs for each NFL team since the big free-agency waves hit.
For the Colts, Manzano tabbed wide receiver, offensive line, and linebacker as the most significant objectives for Indy to address:
"The Colts re-signed Alec Pierce, but it came at the expense of Michael Pittman Jr., who was traded to Pittsburgh to create more cap space," Manzano wrote. "Pierce might be better suited as a No. 2 option and needs teammates who can get open quickly to truly utilize his downfield strengths. With Braden Smith in Houston, Indianapolis has a few concerns on the offensive line."
"Maybe the Colts shouldn’t bank on edge rushers JT Tuimoloau and Laiatu Latu making strides in 2026, but they are thin at linebacker after trading Zaire Franklin to the Packers," Manzano continued.
The Colts do have a void to fill at receiver with the departures of Pittman and AD Mitchell, a promising young receiver they traded last season at the NFL trade deadline.
Pittman has always been the Colts' gritty chain-mover, taking big hits and picking up tough yards over the middle. Mitchell was an uber-athletic, explosive player with good size who could've eventually been the Colts' best receiver, so there are significant shoes to fill.
The Colts signed veteran Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to a minimum deal, but it is hardly anything more than a bridge until other long-term options are found. He also lacks Pittman's track record.
On the offensive line, the starting five is in decent shape; the Colts drafted Jalen Travis last spring with the thought of eventually replacing Braden Smith. However, the depth needs attention.
Longtime backup center Danny Pinter left in free agency for the Baltimore Ravens, and with Travis stepping into the starting lineup, his swing tackle spot has been vacated. Currently, Luke Tenuta and Blake Freeland will battle for that spot, and that's less than ideal.
Linebacker is arguably the position group that needs the most attention. The Colts traded starting MIKE Zaire Franklin to the Green Bay Packers, and their starting WILL, Germaine Pratt, is a free agent. The Colts signed veteran Akeem Davis-Gaither in free agency, but they still have an open starting spot. They could use another couple of depth pieces as well.
To address their remaining needs, the Colts have about $26.6 million in salary cap space and seven picks in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.
