Linebacker Segun Olubi is the seventh Indianapolis Colts defender to leave this offseason.

Indianapolis Colts LB Segun Olubi has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming the seventh former Colts defender to leave town this offseason.

The Indianapolis Colts are clearly serious about turning around their defense.

A unit that ranked in the bottom half of the NFL last year in yards and points allowed just lost its seventh player, as free agent linebacker Segun Olubi has agreed to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Olubi joins linebacker Zaire Franklin (traded to Green Bay Packers), defensive ends Kwity Paye (Raiders) and Samson Ebukam (Atlanta Falcons), defensive tackle Neville Gallimore (Chicago Bears), and safeties Nick Cross (Washington Commanders) and Rodney Thomas II (Seattle Seahawks) as former Colts defensive players to find a new place to play this offseason.

Olubi's exit is more of a hit to the Colts' special teams than it is the defense, as he played just 142 career snaps on defense compared to 1,092 on special teams.

Olubi signed with the Colts in 2022 as an undrafted rookie from San Diego State and has seen action in 51 games (two starts). He totaled 50 tackles, two forced fumbles, two fumbles recovered, one interception, one pass breakup, and a pair of blocked punts.

On special teams, Olubi increased his tackles each year, culminating in a team-leading 12 last season. He also led the Colts in special teams snaps in each of the last two seasons.

The Colts have done very little to address the linebacker unit this offseason. They did sign John Bullock, Joseph Vaughn, and Devin Veresuk to reserve/futures contracts in the winter, but otherwise, they traded Franklin, Olubi signed with Las Vegas, and Germaine Pratt, Buddy Johnson, and Jacob Phillips remain on the open market.

Current Colts linebackers under contract for 2026 are Austin Ajiake, Jaylon Carlies, Bullock, Vaughn, and Veresuk.

The Colts hold seven selections in April's 2026 NFL Draft, which may be where they primarily intend to address the linebacker group.
