INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts took a significant hit this week when they were forced to place do-everything player Ashton Dulin on the Injured Reserve list with a hamstring injury.
To fill his spot, the Colts signed another former All-Pro special teamer, safety George Odum, to the active roster from the practice squad. They also re-signed recently waived cornerback Cameron Mitchell to the practice squad.
Dulin suffered the injury in last Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, as Dulin left the game and did not return.
“Yeah, he has a hamstring (injury), and it looks like he'll probably miss some time," Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters about Dulin on Monday. "I don't know how much, but he'll probably miss some time.”
Dulin must now miss at least the Colts' next four games, against the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, and Monday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers. Dulin is eligible to return in Week 17, in time to face the Jaguars and Texans again in the final two weeks of the regular season.
In 10 games this season (two starts), Dulin has eight offensive touches (resulting in six first downs) for 150 yards (18.8 avg.). He's also returned 11 kickoffs for 328 yards (29.8 avg.).
Dulin has been a jack-of-all-trades for the Colts throughout his career, especially in 2025. He has 133 snaps on offense (77 wide, 46 slot/inline, 2 backfield), 160 on special teams (62 kick coverage, 45 kick return, 22 punt return, 21 punt coverage, 11 kick block), and even a snap on defense to blitz the quarterback.
The Colts will sorely miss Dulin's high-level versatility. Regarding a penalty that was called on Dulin in a recent game, Colts special teams coordinator Brian Mason responded with a strong defense of Dulin.
"Ashton Dulin is one of the three best special teams players in the NFL," Mason said. "He always plays in a great body position. He makes great decisions. He plays with great fundamentals and technique. There was a mistake that was made on that play. It was not made by Ashton Dulin. I have no further comments."

Odum (6'1", 202, 32 years old) now enters his second stint with the Colts after signing with them initially as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He carved out a role as an elite special-teamer with the Colts, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2020. Odum then signed a three-year contract with the 49ers in 2022, playing through 2024. He earned Second-Team All-Pro with the 49ers in 2022.
In 105 career games (12 starts), Odum has 200 tackles (one for loss), including 60 special teams stops. He also has two quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, two fumbles recovered, three interceptions, and nine pass breakups.
