The Indianapolis Colts traded for a new backup center on Sunday.
The Indianapolis Colts are attempting to fix their backup offensive line issues with outside sources, as they have traded a sixth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Bills receive:
- 2027 sixth-round draft pick
Pran-Granger (6'4", 315, 24 years old) was a fifth-round pick (No. 141 overall) by the Bills in the 2024 draft out of Georgia.
He's been active for 31 career regular-season games (two starts) and three playoff contests, totaling 222 offensive snaps and 158 on special teams combined. According to Pro Football Focus, out of 77 career reps in pass protection, Pran-Granger has allowed just one pressure and has a pass-block efficiency rate of 99.3.
The Colts lost longtime backup center Danny Pinter in free agency to the Baltimore Ravens this offseason, which left an underrated void at the position.
For the majority of the offseason, Dalton Tucker has gotten the bulk of the work, and while his blocking hasn't been the story, he has had issues with the actual snapping of the ball out of shotgun formations. This not only causes issues with potential turnovers, but it also throws off the quarterback's timing.
After trading for Pran-Granger, if Tucker makes the roster, it will likely be to return to guard, where he has provided insurance since 2024.
In general, the Colts' pass protection has been abysmal this preseason, as they rank dead last (32nd) in the NFL, per PFF. Tucker's grade (47.5) is well below average, and fellow centers Josh Kreutz (26.1) and Jimmy Morrissey (24.6) have grades nearly as low as possible. Morrissey has since been cut.
After this trade, the Colts are projected to have picks in the following rounds of the 2027 draft: one in Round 2, one in Round 3, two in Round 4, one in Round 5, and three in Round 7.
The Colts are expected to receive a fourth- and a seventh-round compensatory draft pick in 2027 due to players lost this offseason in free agency.
They do not have a first-round pick due to the Sauce Gardner trade, nor a sixth-rounder due to this trade for Pran-Granger.
This may not be the final trade the Colts are involved with this weekend, as they have had a competition at kicker between Spencer Shrader and Blake Grupe that may result in the loser being dealt.
