The Indianapolis Colts re-signed offensive tackle Luke Tenuta, who should compete to be the team's swing tackle.

The Indianapolis Colts made a pair of free-agent signings, with WR Nick Westbrooke-Ikhine and LB Akeem Davis-Gaither. Will both players be new starters for this team?

The Indianapolis Colts went nearly two weeks into the start of NFL free agency before addressing anything on the offensive line. However, they made a move on Friday that should benefit their competition at swing tackle.

The Colts re-signed Luke Tenuta, who has been with the team since signing a reserve/future deal with them in January 2025.

Tenuta (6'8", 314, 26 years old) has roots as a swing tackle, making 15 starts at right tackle and 10 on the left side collegiately at Virginia Tech, where he was a Third-Team All-ACC performer.

He was ultimately selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft with the 209th overall pick by the Buffalo Bills. Tenuta was waived during preseason roster cuts and then quickly scooped up by the Colts for his first stint with the team. Tenuta was waived by the Colts before being claimed by the Green Bay Packers, where he stayed through the 2023 season. He then found a spot with the Arizona Cardinals in 2024 before signing that futures deal with the Colts at the beginning of the 2025 calendar year.

Tenuta has been active for seven career games; three for the Packers as a rookie in 2022 and four for the Colts in 2025. He's played 26 career snaps at left tackle, eight at right tackle, and one as the extra blocker. Tenuta has also played 44 career snaps on the field goal kick and block teams.

According to Pro Football Focus, in Tenuta's 28 offensive snaps in 2025, he allowed just one pressure on the quarterback. That was in Week 15 against the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, who eventually tied for the seventh-most sacks in the NFL with 47.

Tenuta now joins Blake Freeland, Bayron Matos, and Jack Wilson as those attempting to back up Bernhard Raimann and Jalen Travis at offensive tackle. If training camp were starting today, Tenuta and Freeland would likely be battling for the Colts' primary swing tackle role as Raimann and Travis' direct backup.

While re-signing Tenuta was a positive move, the Colts are unlikely to be done addressing the offensive line. Starting right tackle Braden Smith and backup center Danny Pinter both left in free agency, and the Colts have roughly $25 million to $28 million in salary cap space to spend on other veterans, according to OverTheCap.com. The Colts also currently enter April 23's 2026 NFL Draft with seven selections.
