INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts have completed their three-day mandatory minicamp and will now break until late July when they reconvene for training camp.

Here's how the final hour-long practice of minicamp went.

TEAM

— The team is extra cautious with player injuries this time of year. The players who did not participate in practice: wide receiver Alec Pierce (ankle), cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. (back), defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (neck), offensive lineman Jalen Farmer (knee), cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt (foot), cornerback Mekhi Blackmon, cornerback Jaylon Jones, offensive tackle Bayron Matos, safety Austin Brown, and safety Ben Nikkel.

— Head coach Shane Steichen always breaks the final minicamp practice each year with a fun team activity on the field. This year, Steichen had representatives from the offensive and defensive lines kick short field goals, and the group with the most males wins. From the offense, linemen Josh Sills and Dalton Tucker, and assistant line coach Chris Watt represented, while the defense was represented by linemen Jaylahn Tuimoloau and Colby Wooden, as well as assistant line coach Kalon Humphries. Ultimately, the offense came out on top, with Sills hitting the tiebreaking field goal, as the offensive line group celebrated around him and chanted "Sillsy!"

— The Colts ended their team drills with the developmental group going at it in a two-minute drill. Ultimately, quarterback Easton Stick found receiver Raylen Sharpe in the back of the end zone for a short touchdown. The play was set up by a big connection from Stick to tight end Carson Towt on a post route. Towt is experiencing football for the first time this offseason. The defense forced an incompletion on the two-point attempt.

OFFENSE

— Quarterback Daniel Jones continued to partake in 7-on-7s, and he had a productive day. He was 4-of-4 passing, with completions to Josh Downs, Mo Alie-Cox, Laquon Treadwell, and a long touchdown of 50-plus yards to Tyler Warren. On the touchdown, Jones looked off the safety to the right side of the field, which opened things up for Warren deep down the left side.

— While Anthony Richardson Sr. and Riley Leonard have alternated days where they go on the field first for first-team reps during 11-on-11s, Richardson has done it two days in a row. Richardson continued to have a solid showing overall in 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s, looking healthy and decisive, and displaying his trademark arm talent. During 11s, he was just 2-of-5 passing, however, with completions to Jonathan Taylor and Treadwell. Richardson placed some good downfield balls, but he fell victim to a big day by cornerback Sauce Gardner (more on that below).

— Leonard was 5-of-5 during 11s, with completions to Anthony Gould (two), Sahmir Hagans (two), and Coleman Owen, but the offense had its share of miscues while he was on the field. Leonard slipped in the backfield on one play, giving up a sack. Hagans also fumbled deep downfield after a challenging catch. Leonard later had a play during 7s where he found DJ Giddens down the right side on a wheel route. Giddens was closely covered by Jaylon Carlies, but Giddens bobbled the ball and ultimately caught it for a big gain.

DEFENSE

— Gardner was beaten on a deep touchdown by receiver Ashton Dulin during Wednesday's practice when Dulin leaped for a ball over Gardner. However, Gardner had the big day on Thursday, batting away two passes from Richardson, one of which was intended for Dulin. The other, Gardner appeared to peel off coverage of the underneath route and tipped it up, and it was nearly intercepted by safety Cam Bynum.

— Cornerback Cameron Mitchell had a big day breaking up a pair of Leonard passes in tight situations. One should've been an intercepted, as it hit him in the chest, but he dropped it. With Ward not practicing, Mitchell has been one of the players seeing increased reps.

SPECIAL TEAMS

— Both kickers Spencer Shrader and Blake Grupe kicked on Thursday, with Shrader going 3-of-5 (one wide left, one wide right) and Grupe going 5-of-5. While the media was unable to tell the distances for certain, they are typically increasing depth from about 27 yards to 50-plus.

The Colts will now break for six weeks until training camp in late July at Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield, Ind.
