INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — One of the Indianapolis Colts' top defensive players, cornerback Charvarius Ward, will not practice on Wednesday as the team begins on-field preparation for their matchup with the Denver Broncos.

Ward reported symptoms of a concussion to the team on Monday morning following the team's 33-8 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. He must now clear the NFL's concussion protocol before being given the green light to play, but not practicing at all on Wednesday makes that a little more challenging if Ward is to play on Sunday.

"We'll see how the week goes," Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Wednesday about Ward's availability this week.

Alongside Ward, Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones was also injured on Sunday during a kickoff coverage snap and did not return. He re-injured a hamstring that caused him to miss multiple weeks during training camp and the preseason.

"He's gonna be out for awhile," Steichen said of Jones. "I don't have a timetable for it, but he'll be out for awhile."

"We'll see," Steichen said when asked if Jones might go on Injured Reserve. "We'll work through it."

The Colts host the Broncos this Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium at 4:05 p.m. ET.
