INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce and slot cornerback Kenny Moore II both left last Sunday's 41-20 win over the Tennessee Titans with injuries, and according to head coach Shane Steichen, neither will practice on Wednesday.

Pierce was injured while attempting to make a big catch downfield during the third quarter, as he fell to the ground and hit his head on the turf. He was taken to the medical tent and then the locker room and was entered into the NFL's concussion protocol.

This is the third time since Pierce entered the league in 2022 that he has suffered a concussion. With the being the case, Steichen was asked this week whether he has any firm rules about using players with a concussion history.

“We really rely on our trainers and our doctors during that process, and obviously the player as well," Steichen said. "So, we take that all into account as we go through those concussions.”

If Pierce is unable to play, that would likely mean an increased workload for both AD Mitchell and Ashton Dulin.

Moore was injured early in the fourth quarter when covering a play over the middle of the field. He fell to the field and grabbed at his lower left leg. Moore left the game with what was described as a calf injury. However, on Wednesday, Steichen said upon further review, it's more in the Achilles area.

"He had the calf, but obviously we did a little more research on it, and it's a little more in the Achilles," Steiched said. "So, we'll see how the week goes."

Steichen was then asked whether Injured Reserve — which would cause Moore to miss at least four games — would be a possibility, and he said, "Not right now."

In Moore's absence, the Colts could use some mixture of Mekhi Blackmon and practice-squad players Chris Lammons and Mike Hilton. The Colts officially signed Hilton on Tuesday after the veteran played four years in Cincinnati with now-Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. The Colts are unsure if Hilton will be ready to play yet.
