PITTSBURGH — The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2) are gearing up for their matchup on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.
Both sides will be influenced by injuries in windy, rainy conditions.
On Friday, the Colts ruled linebacker Jaylon Carlies (ribs), wide receiver Ashton Dulin (hamstring), and edge defender Arden Key (hamstring) as out. Key was then placed on Injured Reserve on Saturday. Tight end Will Mallory (IR-knee) returned to practice this week but has not yet been activated from IR.
Wide receivers Keenan Allen (groin) and Darius Slayton (knee) were ruled questionable, as was cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. (groin). Slayton was downgraded to out on Saturday, and Allen and Ward are both active.
The Steelers ruled cornerback Jamel Dean (ankle) and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (foot) out on Friday. Safety DeShon Elliott (IR-knee) practiced this week but has not yet been activated from IR. Pittman was placed on IR on Saturday.
Running back Rico Dowdle (toe) and cornerback Jalen Ramsey (wrist) were listed as questionable. Dowdle is inactive and Ramsey is active.
Here is a list of both team's inactive players:
COLTS
- LB Jaylon Carlies (ribs)
- WR Ashton Dulin (hamstring)
- QB Riley Leonard (emergency QB3)
- WR Darius Slayton (knee)
- IOL Dalton Tucker
Carlies missed practice all week and will likely be replaced in the starting lineup at WILL linebacker by rookie Bryce Boettcher.
With Dulin and Slayton out, the Colts called Nick Westbrook-Ikhine up from the practice squad for this game, and he'll revert afterward.
For the first time this season, running back DJ Giddens and rookie edge defender George Gumbs Jr. are active.
STEELERS
- QB Drew Allar
- RB Rico Dowdle (toe)
- QB Will Howard (emergency QB3)
- RB Eli Heidenreich
- CB Jamel Dean (ankle)
- CB Terell Smith
- DE Kevin Jobity Jr.
Dowdle may be a sizeable absence for the Steelers in a sloppy-weather game that will require a heavy rushing attack.
Starting corner Dean being out may also present an issue, especially with Jalen Ramsey playing through a wrist injury.
The Steelers signed defensive back Doneiko Slaughter to the 53-man roster in Pittman's spot. They also elevated running back Lew Nichols and receiver Brandon Smith to the active roster from the practice squad for Sunday's game. They'll revert afterward.
