INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts kicked the tires on a pair of wide receivers on Tuesday, working out Kisean Johnson and Eli Pancol.
Both players are undrafted rookies. Johnson initially signed with the Cleveland Browns after the 2025 NFL Draft and was waived in late August. Pancol — an Indiana native out of Pendleton Heights High School — signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars coming out of the draft and was also cut in August
Johnson (6'2", 216, 23 years old) was a productive player in his final collegiate season for Western Kentucky, pulling in 75 catches for 925 yards (12.3 avg.) and seven touchdowns. He played 51 offensive snaps for the Browns in the preseason and was targeted twice, with no catches. He also played six special teams snaps on the punt coverage and return teams.
Pancol (6'1", 205, 25) caught 60 passes for 798 yards (13.3 avg.) and nine touchdowns at Duke as a redshirt senior in 2024. He dealt with injuries during his collegiate career, which also affected his availability for the Jaguars in training camp, ultimately being let go with an injury designation. He played 17 offensive snaps in one game in the preseason, catching two of his three targets for 28 yards (14.0), including a 27-yard reception. Pancol also played seven special teams snaps on the kick and punt return units.
As far as health goes, the Colts are still in decent shape at wide receiver. Starter Alec Pierce missed last week's game with a concussion. AD Mitchell had a couple of gaffes in last Sunday's game that cost the team dearly, but not to the point where the Colts would need to replace him.
If any further injuries do arise for the Colts throughout the season at receiver, however, they will now have these players as options to call upon.
